TTT (Tonopah To Tahoe, Sat 13 Dec)

Google Maps was of the opinion that we only had about 250 mile to go before we would be at Tahoe, so another easy drive through this interesting part of the world.

The fluffy stuff that came down from the heavens the night before turned the place into a winter wonderland.

The mining museum suddenly looks a bit more attractive to visit . . .
Just outside of Tonopah we parked the Jeepie at the entrance to the Solar Thermal Project to take some pictures of the snow.

My fellow travelers enjoyed the white beauty
The lovebirds looking pretty in the middle of the road!
Later that afternoon we re-united the Viljoens from LA with their Jeepie, but this time in Lake Tahoe. We rented a nice house for all of us to stay in, with the idea to ski while we were there. Unfortunately, all the resorts around Tahoe, especially heavenly which was right next to us, was still touch and go in terms of having enough snow. That, combined with Brenda and I being as sick as dogs for most of the week while were in Tahoe, resulted in us hitting the slopes for only one day. :-(

The only evidence of our skiing
We did however have a lot of fun together. The girls just LOVED the sled riding on some snow we found:

Do you wanna build a snowmaaaan?

Deep snow is always fun if you are a South African!

Fortunately, the ice rink in town was open, so more more fun for the bravehearts. I wisely decided not to participate.

The week came to an end way too quick and as Murphys would have it, some serious snow started to dump on the Friday night, just as we were leaving. We even had to fit chains to the cars in order to be able to drive back to LA.

It was an uneventful drive back to LA, with a pleasing beautiful sunset
