Vancouver in cloud

After a very pleasant morning of lying in, gyming and then doing a little "office" work in my favourite office ... we left Whistler for Vancouver ... a mere 2 hour drive through more majestic mountains.

We stayed 3 days in Mark's apartment in downtown Vancouver - in both a serene and beautiful but also densely urbanised part of Vancouver's downtown district.  We had dinner at a great Greek Restaurant just a 5 minute walk away ... and then came home for Mark's home-baked apple cake - YUM!!!

Mark's apartment is only a very short walk to Stanley Park.  So the next morning Piet and I rented some bikes and cycled around the park.

Here is the pole I married
And my pole on his bicycle ... not co-operating (as usual) with the photographer.

Here is an example of a more co-operative subject

Fortunately we missed the rain on the ride, but thereafter it bucketed down for the rest of our stay!  Nonetheless, this did not stop us enjoying Vancouver's Asian influence ... Mongolian for lunch and Vietnamese for Supper!

More ghost art in downtown Vancouver

Unfortunately we spent all three days in dark cloud and rain.  This included a wet wet visit to Granville Island's Food Market for lunch, and a wander around this eclectic shopping district.

So much relaxing indoors, and a homemade supper (fresh pasta, salad and a DRAGON FRUIT) from the market.

Thanks Mark!!!  You live in a beautiful city.  We were happy to see it in the sun on the drive out to Vancouver Island.
